Vireo
Vireo is a 30-month research project starting in the fourth quarter of 2026. It builds on three University of Malta (UM) projects involving Prof. Tracey Camilleri that explored how people can use eye movements to interact with digital devices. EyeCon developed a way to estimate where a person is looking while allowing natural head movement. EyeCon+ took this work into communication tools such as virtual keyboards, while EyeTrack investigated how electrode placement and lighting affect tracking accuracy. Vireo brings these strands of research together to advance eye-gaze technology as a means of interacting with digital devices, particularly for people with motor impairments. Stay tuned for more updates!
